The United States is a great country. However, there are several reasons to have a new life overseas. I personally wanted to experience my roots since I am a Korean adoptee. I also wanted the experience of living in another country specifically Asia, and of course for the pure adventure. My husband was in the Air Force at the time I met him. We both had a blast in Korea. Collectively my husband and I have lived in Korea for 6 years and so we're pretty familiar with the expats lifestyle in Korea.

I lived in Korea for five years, a lot longer than I intended. The expats lifestyle was great. Definition of lifestyle- A way of life or style of living that reflects the attitudes and values of a person or group. This expats lifestyle in Korea was very exciting, adventurous, and freeing. Most Expats feel this way.

I was an English Teacher for the first three years at two different Language Institutes and the last two years even had the luxury of a successful entrepreneurial lifestyle. I had my own business teaching English to professionals, university students, stay at home moms and school children in and around Seoul, Korea. Employment in Korea as an English Teacher is widely available with great pay. I was able to pay off many of my debts (school loans and credit card debts) within the first two years and was also able to travel to many other countries in Asia and still was able to save money. This was one of the big reasons I stayed so long. Living in Korea I was able to attain a debt free lifestyle and create liberty for myself.

A few of the other reasons I remained in Korea for five years include good friendships great food, and the the wonderfully friendly and very helpful Korean people. Since I lived in Seoul, Korea there were many events and activities to participate in each day. Plus, the night life was to die for. I don’t think I was ever bored, although I was homesick at times.

Korea is also very rich in culture, history, and spirituality. It is socially progressive and economically modern. New technology seem to be created every day in Korea and during my time there I watch the country grow over night. The mix of the new and old ways is very unique and very much alive in Korea.
